oooooo….living on a prayer. We are approaching the half way point of Summer – the 4th came and went with its fanfare and celebration and the sober reminder that fall is coming in 8 weeks tugs at my preoccupation to start planning. In the world of real estate, it has been a busy one. Lots of showings, lots of offers, lots of things coming together and falling apart simultaneously. Deadlines approach and deals move to the next step – it is a realm of constant motion, communication, and growth. I love it.
I recently was with a friend sharing how I have learned more in the last two months than I have in the past ten years. Moments of information overload and then opportunities to gain knowledge and experience have re-awakened my passion for improvement. My husband gently reminded me that change is hard for a perfectionist, hmm….true. But it is so stinking good for us perfectionists too.
There is no going back to June to restart the summer, it is gonzo – so let’s take a deep breath and embrace the next 19 days July has to offer us before we hit the back to school sales. What does that look like for home ownership?
- If you are looking to buy, get on it. If you want to close and move in before school starts, you better start now. Before your kids enroll and the bus routes get planned out, we need to find you a home. There is a process to buying a home and it takes time. Plan accordingly.
- If you are looking to sell, get on it. Tackle that “to do” list that is keeping you trudging your feet and not completing the tasks you want completed before you sell. Be proactive, be prepared, and do your homework to maximize your greatest profit on your home.
- If you are a renter, meet with a mortgage specialist and discuss the many possibilities for attaining a mortgage. Did you know that many lenders can use creative credit history to strengthen your ability to borrow? Gym memberships and iTunes accounts, along with a renting history and the usual bills can give you enough credit history to get preapproved. Plus there are so many more options than just the conventional 20% down loan these days- talk to an expert that can educate and counsel you NOW so you’ll be ready to own THEN.
- If you are a homeowner, take a look around at your house & walk your yard and be grateful that you own a physical piece of our country. Embrace that gratitude and stir in a little motivation and make that house your home. Want to know how to really make your home feel perfect? Share it with others. Invite someone over for a meal, set up bean bags in your yard and invite the neighbors over, live life with others.
What are you going to do for the next 19 days left in July? I hope there is a whole lot summer fun, with some intentional thinking and reevaluation, and setting a few attainable goals to accomplish in the remaining weeks of summer. What will I be doing for the rest of July? All of the above.
